In 2022, Cherie "Amora" Coles founded 2nd Chance Dog Rescue after recognizing the urgent need for animal rescue in the high desert area of the Antelope Valley. Fueled by her dedication to making a difference, she engaged with local community members, conducted a comprehensive needs assessment, and embarked on her journey to establish a non-profit organization aimed at saving animals from high-kill shelters.
Amora's commitment doesn't stop at animal rescue; she also passionately supports the Lancaster community through her full-time work in education. Her presence and dedication have not gone unnoticed, as she has been featured on KTLA multiple times, actively participates in community events, and manages her time balancing her responsibilities as a mother to her children and caretaker to her beloved dogs.
Meet Noemi! She has always had a heart and house full of dogs but after sending her human children off to college she jumped headfirst into the shelter crisis and dog rescue world with both feet ! Her day job is in Corporate Legal Operations but she's blessed to work remotely which allows her the time to pursue her passion in saving dogs. She is thrilled to be a part of 2nd Chance's mission to rescue the large breed dogs that are over represented in euthanized rates in the shelters and find them forever homes. She supports the rescue in various ways, specializing in foster and adoption placements and engagement.
Meet Christine, a dedicated 2nd Chance Adopter who welcomed Jack into her heart and home, giving him a fresh start and a loving forever home. Not only is she a devoted wife and mom, but Christine is also the proud owner of three beautiful rescue dogs, all of whom have found their way into her life through the same compassionate journey.
Christine’s passion for rescue work goes beyond her own pets; she’s an integral volunteer with the organization, offering her time and energy to support dogs in need. She’s especially passionate about traveling and regularly takes on the important role of transporting dogs across the country to help them find their forever families. Her selfless dedication makes a profound impact on countless dogs’ lives.
Christine’s influence extends to the public eye, having appeared on KTLA several times, advocating for the rescue and showcasing some of the dogs she’s helped. She’s a true champion for the cause, lending her support in various areas within the organization, from fostering to community outreach. Christine’s commitment and heart for rescue work are a shining example of the love and care that transforms lives, both human and canine.
